When, God, when?

by Joyce Meyer

We all want good things to happen in our lives, but too often we want it now...not later. When it doesn't happen that way, we are tempted to ask, "When, God, when?" Most of us need to grow in the area of trusting God instead of focusing on the “when” question. If you're missing joy and peace, you're not trusting God. If your mind feels worn out all the time, you're not trusting God. The tendency to want to know about everything that's going on can be detrimental to your Christian walk. Sometimes knowing everything can be uncomfortable and can even hurt you. I spent a large part of my life being impatient, frustrated and disappointed because there were things I didn't know. God had to teach me to leave things alone and quit feeling that I needed to know everything. I finally learned to trust the One who knows all things and accept that some questions may never be answered. We prove that we trust God when we refuse to worry.

God wants us to live by discernment—revelation knowledge, not head knowledge. It's difficult to exercise discernment if you're always trying to figure out everything. But when you're willing to say, "God, I can't figure this out, so I'm going to trust You to give me revelation that will set me free," then you can be comfortable in spite of not knowing. Trusting God often requires not knowing how God is going to accomplish what needs to be done and not knowing when He will do it. We often say God is never late, but generally He isn't early either. Why? Because He uses times of waiting to stretch our faith in Him and to bring about change and growth in our lives.

WAIT WITH PATIENCE

We spend a lot of time in our lives waiting because change is a process. Many people want change, but they don't want to go through the waiting process. But the truth is, waiting is a given—we are going to wait. The question is, are we going to wait the wrong or right way? If we wait the wrong way, we'll be miserable; but if we decide to wait God's way, we can become patient and enjoy the wait. It takes practice, but as we let God help us in each situation, we develop patience, which is one of the most important Christian virtues. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit (see Galatians 5:22). It’s developed only under trial, so we must not run from difficult situations. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing (James 1:4). As we develop patience, the Bible says we finally feel completely satisfied—lacking nothing. Even our relationship with God involves progressive changes. My relationship with God is so much different now than it was in the early days of my Christian experience. It is not nearly as emotionally exciting...and yet it is better. Every change I've gone through has made me more mature, solid and well-grounded. We learn to trust God by going through many experiences that require trust. By seeing God's faithfulness over and over, we let go of trusting ourselves, and gradually we place our trust in Him. Looking at it like this, it is easy to see how timing plays an important part in learning to trust God. If He did everything we asked for immediately, we would never grow and develop. Timing and trust work side by side.

ACCEPT GOD’S TIMING

God gives us hopes and dreams for certain things to happen in our lives, but He doesn't always allow us to see the exact timing of His plan. Although frustrating, not knowing the exact timing is often what keeps us in the program. There are times when we might give up if we knew how long it was going to take, but when we accept God's timing, we can learn to live in hope and enjoy our lives while God is working on our problems. We know that God's plan for our lives is good, and when we entrust ourselves to Him, we can experience total peace and happiness. The book of Genesis tells the story of Joseph, who waited many years for the fulfillment of the dream God had given him. He was falsely accused and imprisoned before the time came for him to do what God had shown him he was to do. Exodus 13:17,18 tells us that God led the Israelites the longer, harder way on their journey to the Promised Land because He knew they were not yet ready to go in. There had to be time for their training, and they had to go through some very trying situations. They wasted a lot of time wondering about God's timing, but God never failed to take care of them and show them what He wanted them to do. The same is true in our lives. It was many years after I received my call from God in February of 1976 before I finally began to see major fulfillment of what God had called me to do. God's training period simply requires us to do what He tells us to do when He tells us to do it...without questioning or trying to figure everything out.

LEARN TO RELY ON GOD

Proverbs 16:9 says, A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure. Proverbs 20:24 says, Man's steps are ordered by the Lord. How then can a man understand his way? When God directs our paths, He sometimes leads us in ways that don't make sense to us so we're not always going to understand everything. If we try to reason out everything, we will experience struggle, confusion and misery—but there is a better way. Proverbs 3:5,6 says, Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. This sounds so simple, yet too many people make the mistake of trying to figure everything out themselves. Most of us have spent our lives trying to take care of ourselves, but when we accept Christ as our Savior, we must learn to trust our lives to His care. When we do, we can say with the psalmist, ...I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God. My times are in Your hands...(Psalm 31:14,15). First Peter 5:5 tells us that ...God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)—[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble. Anyone who thinks they're a self-made man or woman has a rude awakening coming because Jesus said, ...apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing (John 15:5). Humility is a covering that draws the help of God into our lives to protect us. When we humble ourselves by saying, "God, I don't know what to do, but I'm trusting You," God gets in gear to help us. God won't allow us to succeed at anything unless we're leaning and relying on Him. But when we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, in due time, He will exalt us (see 1 Peter 5:6). "Due time" is God's time, when God knows we're ready, not when we think we're ready. The sooner we understand and accept that, the sooner God can work His plan in our lives.

FROM SEEDTIME TO HARVEST

Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us: To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. This lets us know that we all don't live in the same season at the same time. You should never be jealous of someone who is enjoying harvest while you're still in the planting season. Remember, they had to go through a season of planting just as you are. Seeing the results they are enjoying should be an encouragement to you. Understand and trust that God is doing the very best for you in your present season. Seedtime represents learning the will of God. Each time I choose God's will instead of my own, I'm planting a good seed that will eventually bring a harvest in my life. If you want to be victorious, you cannot afford to get pulled into the world's system, doing what you feel like doing. James 1:21 tells us what we should do: ...get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.

Your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions. When the Word gets rooted in there and begins to change your mind, it begins to heal your emotions and turn your will away from self-will and onto doing the will of God. Living out of one's own soul is equivalent to staying in the wilderness. When my flesh is finally crucified and I get out of my soul and into doing the will of God, that's when I enter the promised land. The promised land is knowing who you are in Christ, knowing how to fellowship with Him, enjoying His presence, and having peace, contentment and joy. Between seedtime and harvest comes a time of waiting. After a seed is planted, the heat, moisture and pressure of the ground finally cause the outer hull to crack open. Then roots shoot down, digging their way through the ground. It takes time for this to happen, and it takes place underground. Above the ground, you can't tell anything is happening. That's the way our lives are. After we plant seeds of obedience, we feel like nothing is happening, but all kinds of things are happening inside where we can't see. And like the seed that finally bursts through the ground with a beautiful green shoot, our seeds of obedience finally break forth into a beautiful manifestation of God in our lives.

When harvesttime comes, the desires of your heart begin to manifest—bondages fall off of you and you see your dreams come to pass. You see your kids changing and your family getting saved. Prosperity, favor, promotion, honor, and all kinds of good things come out in the open where they can be seen. In harvesttime, more than ever before, you hear from God, you enjoy His presence, and you're led by the Spirit. Blessings begin to chase you down the street, and joy and calm delight become your normal mood. Are you tired of waiting for harvesttime in your life? Are you frustrated, crying out, "When, God, when?" Then you need to understand that God's timing is often a mystery. He doesn't do things on our timetable. Yet His Word promises that He will not be late, not one single day. But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! (Habakkuk 2:3 TLB). God causes things to happen at exactly the right time! Your job is not to figure out when, but to make up your mind that you won't give up until you cross the finish line and are living in the radical, outrageous blessings of God! The more you trust Jesus and keep your eyes focused on Him, the more life you'll have. Trusting God brings life. Believing brings rest. So stop trying to figure everything out, and let God be God in your life.

PNoy's sister act!

Now, that Noynoy Aquino is officially the new President of our country, many Filipinos are hoping that all that he had promised during the campaign period will all be done in his term until 2016. Being the only son of late Sen. Benigno Aquino and Pres. Cory Aquino, people's expectations of him is so high. He has to maintain the legacy that his parents done in our country. Filipinos are thirsty fro a change. Our country has been so down for the past years. One of the biggest problem that Noy will be facing is the fight for graft and corruption. Being a President is a very hard job! But what is this that I have read recently that Noy's sisters are to the rescue for him especially Kris. Honestly, I adore Kris for being spontaneous and for being straight forward. What she wants to say, she says it all. But sometimes, privacy is also important! Now that his brother is the new President, here she is saying so many stuffs on what she wants to do for the country even on how his brother will look like and even involving herself in some political issues. It's not bad to be involved but she should let her brother stand on his own opinion. If she wants to suggest something, let her brother decide. In fact, people voted for Noy, let him run our country. Based on what Kris is acting right now, she just proves that she has no trust that her brother can run our country. Recently, I heard their eldest sister, Balsy, on her interview that they are on guard always on the plans of Noy for the country because they are afraid that if he will fail this will affect the legacies of their parents.

Well, for me, I believe that it's not bad that they are too concern about their brother but they should let their brother be a man. They should trust him that he can be a good leader and he can run our country well. I did not vote Noy last election but I will support him in his plans for the betterment of our country. This is not his fight alone, this is Filipinos fight for success! Good Luck!!!

a letter to the one God has prepared for me..

--- I've read this on somebody's blog.. hehe.. ang cute kasi! i can relate! :)

i am wondering at this very minute if you are thinking of me. if like me you are wondering what is taking us so long to find each other. many times i thought i finally found you only to be disillusioned by the fact that my waiting has not yet ended. i get up each morning hoping, dreaming, longing to meet you. i am thinking of how we will meet, would it be as romantic as the ones i have seen in movies? or is it possible that i have known you all my life but we have yet to realize that we are meant for each other? how i wish you were here right now because you are the only one who has the answers to all my questions.

sometimes, i ask myself if i have ever really known “LOVE”. i do not have the answer to that question either but i believe that, more often than not, we will never really know what love is until we find that person we are destined to have and since i have not found you yet, then maybe i do not really know what love is!

you just don’t know how often i dream of finally knowing what it feels like to be in your arms. even at this very moment i am imagining how you will simply sweep me off my feet! perhaps, i would be drawn to you by your smile, or your eyes, or maybe even how you manage to make me laugh by your silly little ways! i don’t really know for sure but i am praying for that God will help me recognize you when the right time comes. i think of all the pain that i have gone through in the past and of how much i have cried since the day i began my search. i just wanted you to know that i find my strength in clinging onto my vision of the beautiful life ahead of me-the life i shall spend with you. in my mind and in my heart, i know that you are worth all that pain of my life, and i believe that they are slowly washing away my flaws so that i would become perfect, not perfect in its truest sense, but perfect for you. i wonder if you’ve gone through so much pain as well. i wonder if you’ve been hurt so many times along the journey. but please don’t ever give up because i am right here…patiently waiting for you! i assure you that when we finally find each other i would slowly heal those wounds.

at night, i would look out my window and stare at the beautiful sky, hoping that somehow you are also looking up and wondering about me. i utter a silent prayer and send all my cries to the heavens above and thinking that in time they would reach you. and when i feel impatient, i just close my eyes and believe that you are on your way and that you are longing to see me as well.

it is funny but when i finally fall asleep, it is still you that i think of, for you are always in my dreams. in my dreams you would kiss away my fears and wrap me with your arms of love. and this, all the more, makes me want to wake up and face the new day ahead with the hope that soon enough. you will no longer be a dream but a reality and once again i am assured that you are worth the wait. and when that time comes everything will fall into its places, just as i had imagined, just as i had believed it would be! by then, i would simply look back and smile at all that i have gone through, in spite of the pain and amidst the simple joys of life- and i would be very thankful because they all led me to you.

in the meantime, take care of yourself for me. hold on to our dream, and don’t even think of letting go. believe in your heart that we will find each other no matter what happens. God has planned the course, and it is up to us to follow the directions. Don’t worry, don’t be afraid about getting lost, God sees to it that all the roads, no matter which one you choose to follow, he will lead you to me… =)

Life – like a Music Playlist played with the Shuffle ON!

Recently I was used to having my music playlist played sequentially. It took great pains to arrange songs in an order for each folder that I made so that I could listen to my favourite songs all at a time.

And then I realized that most of us end up living life like that too. Life becomes a routine – a sequence of events to be followed day-in, day-out. A monotonous jamboree of sorts.

And while thinking about this, I switched the Shuffle ON on my music player. It turned out to be a more enjoyable experience, since you never know whats going to come up next. Isn’t that how life is? You never know what surprises await you – pleasant or otherwise! If you dont like the song, MOVE ON!

Just like what this blog is all about, I’m beginning to live Life with the Shuffle ON! The journey has just started and I don’t know where it will take me, however, the rhythm flows through my head and I shall keep going on!

Rock on! :))

soulmate

"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.

A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master..."

Happy Father's Day

Thank you Daddy for everything. I may not have said it that often, but how could I let this special occasion go by without saying how much you mean to us. Though we were separated for so many years, I'm so blessed that now you were with us. We should make up for those years that we're apart. Take it one day a time! :)Those long years have been so hard for you and for us too, that's why I salute you that despite the hardships you've encountered, you have maintained to be strong. You worked hard just to give us what we need, to send us to good schools, and to provide a good life for your family. You may not be perfect but I want you to know that I adore you for accepting that you are weak sometimes. That's why God gave us to you so that when you know that you can't go on, we're here! We will always be here! No matter what happen, it is still your family that you will have in the end. Mistakes are done to teach us lessons and to remind us that life is not perfect but it's worth living it! Forget the past and let's live the present! :)

Happy Father's Day! I want you to know that we appreciated everything you've done for us. Sorry also for my shortcomings. Just stay strong. Be humble and be more God-fearing. God loves us!

I LOVE YOU DADDY!

I'm so proud of you despite of everything! Bear that in your mind! :)

I'm so thankful that I have parents like you and mommy!

Me, Kuya, Jairus and Mommy super love you BIGTIME!!!!!

----To all the fathers out there, HAPPY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL!

realizations...

As I grow old, my realizations about life became deeper.
Problems get bigger, situations become more complicated..
and I know that you are just like me too..
Sometimes we wish we could go back,
back to the time when the only man in our life was our dad..
our only best friend was our mom..
and..
any pain could be healed by just a band aid and a lollipop..

unhappy at work???

How do you know that you’re unhappy at work? That something is not right and that it’s time to either make some changes at work or move on to a new job?

Top 10 signs:

1: You procrastinate
You really, honestly try to get some work done. But somehow you never really get around to it. Or you only do it at the last possible moment and then only do a half-baked effort.

Many people view procrastination as a personal weakness. To me, it’s one of the strongest warning signs of unhappiness at work.

2: You spend Sunday night worrying about Monday morning
“I never sleep on Sunday night very well because I’m worried about going to work on Monday morning. My job is very stressful and you kind of have to gear up for Monday and getting back into that.”

One of the worst things about being unhappy at work is that the unhappiness bleeds over into your free time. If you’ve had a lousy day at work, it’s difficult to go home and have a great evening. If your week sucked, it’s hard to have a fun, relaxed, carefree weekend.

3: You’re really competitive about salary and titles
You don’t like the job itself, so you focus much more on salary and perks. Knowing that someone in a similar position is paid more than you, or is promoted when you’re not, really eats at you.

When we’re unhappy at work we get a lot more competitive, for one simple reason: When work doesn’t give us happiness and enjoyment we want to get something else out of it. And what else is there but compensation and promotions.

4: You don’t feel like helping co-workers
Your colleagues may be struggling. But you don’t really feel like lending a hand. Why should you?

One very interesting psychological study started by putting subjects in either a good mood or a bad mood. They were then asked to go down the hall to another room where the experiment would continue. In the hallway the real experiment took place – the subjects passed a man holding a big box struggling to open a door. Would the subject help that person? The experiment showed, that when we’re in a bad mood, we’re much less likely to help others.

5: Work days feel looooong
The first thing you do in the morning, is calculate the number of hours until you can go home.

Ironically, this makes the work day feel even longer.

6: You have no friends at work
Friends at work? They’re mostly all jerks anyway.

Gallup have found in their studies of workplace engagement, that one of the strongest factors that predict happiness at work is having at least one close friend at work.

7: You don’t care. About anything.
Things can go well or they can go badly for your workplace. Either way, you don’t really give a damn.

When you’re unhappy, you care mostly about yourself and not so much about the workplace.

8: Small things bug you
Small annoyances bug you out of all proportion. Like someone taking up too much space in the parking lot, someone taking the last coffee without brewing a new pot or someone talking too loudly in the next cubicle.

When you’re unhappy you have much thinner skin and a shorter fuse. It takes a lot less to annoy you.

9: You’re suspicious of other people’s motives
No matter what people do, your fist thought is “what are they up to?” Good or bad, big or small, all decisions and actions made by your co-workers and managers are seen in this light.

Studies show that we’re also more suspicious of others when we’re unhappy.

10: Physical symptoms
You suffer from insomnia, headaches, low energy, muscle tension and/or other physical symptoms.

Studies show that when you’re unhappy at work you’re more prone to experience these physical stress symptoms.
